Timmy Trumpet Las Vegas Concert reviews
Disappointing!
Having grown up in the 80's, myself and my other 5 friends that were visiting Vegas from the UK were naturally excited about the evening and frequently been marvelled at the SPECTACULAR magic tricks this man created.
We had booked in advance and subsequently paid $100+ per ticket. If only we had known then what we know now!
The show itself was dismal! The PR spiel beforehand (billboard ads, video testimonials, etc) would make one think this show would be a life changing event, but this was most definitely not the case!
The MGM is a relatively grand hotel and one would naturally expect the Hollywood Theatre to follow suit. Unfortunately that was not the case! It looks like the inside of a cheap bingo hall and the service was also somewhat reminiscent of the same!
The low point came when he asked an audience member to help him out when they clearly didn't want to! Instead of moving on he kept hassling the poor man for 10 minutes until he admitted defeat and finally moved on!
Although some of the tricks were pretty cool, they were delivered with such a lack of panache and passion that it felt like he was just doing this gig for the money.
His interaction with the audience may well have been 'intimate' but his jokes are appalling and his empathy with the audience was nonexistent. Clearly he is a good magician but he should really just stick to that and drop the chitchat with the audience!
The drinks were OK but, laughably, the ‘gourmet’ snacks included Pringles and Peanuts! Our server was quite happy to take our orders whilst the act was on and torches were flashed here and there on a regular basis.
In fact, the point where he took a tie off of a planted audience member and made it dance to calypso music was also a major low point!
I could go on forever about how bad this show is but it's probably best just to summarise...
If you're in Vegas and want to save yourself some money, DO NOT SEE THIS SHOW! Timmy Trumpet can still pull off some pretty amazing tricks, but the delivery was extremely lacklustre and over-rehearsed to the point that he seemed as unexcited to be there as we were watching the act!
Some of the audience did seem to like the show, so I guess it is a case of personal choice. However, the hype created before the show was most definitely not matched in the performance so be cautious and don’t believe the hype!
